Usually yes, with two conditions. An indicator runs inside the MetaTrader platform on your computer, not on the broker's server, so it generally works with any broker that offers the same platform version (MT4 or MT5) the indicator was built for. What differs between brokers is the data it reads, not whether it loads.
What actually has to match
- Platform version. MT4 indicators (.ex4/.mq4) won't run on MT5, and MT5 files (.ex5/.mq5) won't run on MT4. Check which one your broker supplies before you buy or download anything. See MetaTrader 4 vs MetaTrader 5 for Indicator Users: Compatibility, Conversion and Which Platform to Choose.
- Custom indicators allowed. Desktop MetaTrader normally accepts them, but the mobile apps don't load them. See Can you add custom indicators to the MetaTrader 4 or 5 mobile app?
Where brokers can still cause trouble
- Symbol names. Some brokers add suffixes or prefixes (for example EURUSD.m or EURUSDpro). An indicator hard-coded to a specific symbol name may show nothing until you adjust its inputs.
- Price history. Brokers supply their own quotes and history depth. Signals can look slightly different between brokers, especially on lower timeframes, and an indicator that needs a lot of history may draw incompletely if the broker provides little.
- Server time. Time zones and daily candle cutoffs vary. Indicators that depend on sessions or daily opens can shift as a result.
- Spreads and execution. Indicators don't account for your broker's costs. If an indicator ships with an automated trading component (an EA), that's a separate matter and broker conditions can affect it.
- Terminal settings. Some indicators need DLL imports or web requests enabled in the options. That's your terminal setting, not a broker restriction.
